Who loves old doors? I do and have always loved the idea of replacing existing doors with them. So in this new house that was the plan for the little pantry door. I had picked this guy up at ALL things Pretty Market in the Spring from Smokin Bill's Salvage and hoped it fit. Well it didn't. I didn't want to keep looking for the exact size because it may never come along. So I decided to cut it down. I had to take 4 inches off. Which worked out to be the frame. So I cut it off then cut off 4" off the middle and reattached the frame. It was tricky to get all lined back up by myself but I managed. It was also easier not to have to worry about scratching or wrecking the door as it just added to the character.
I added the inside trim back on and Voila! Looks like nothing ever happened.
Now the door is old so getting it into a a hole with rough edges was fun. I first hung it to see what to do. I needed a millimetre more. So I removed the hinges and chipped away. Slidding the door over.
Seriously that was it. It fit. Now it goes in a little rough now but I will watch over time for spots to sand down for more smoother entry.
